Common Support Topics

Spirit Box is not generating words

Output timing depends on calibration, sensitivity, current magnetic-field activity, device motion, trigger progress, and cooldown behavior.

• Confirm the run is active.
• Allow calibration to finish.
• Choose the intended sensitivity.
• Keep the phone in the position you plan to use.
• Hold the phone naturally or place it on a stable surface.
• Do not shake, strike, or deliberately expose the phone to strong magnets to force a result.

Magnetic readings keep changing

Check for nearby electronics, magnets, speakers, charging equipment, metal objects, appliances, vehicles, watches, phone movement, and changes in device orientation. Move the phone to the intended position and recalibrate.

Vibration Beacon shows movement while the phone is being held

Small hand, body, and speaking-related movements can affect the reading. For a more stable baseline, place the phone on a fixed surface and avoid touching it during monitoring.

My Session or Area is wrong

Before starting a Spirit Box run, use the Session and Area controls inside the Spirit Box instrument. Changing Sessions resets the Area to Unassigned.

A run was saved as Unassigned

This can happen when no Area was selected or the Session did not contain an Area. Open the saved run from Session details and assign it to the correct Area.

Speech output is not playing

Confirm that Speak Generated Words is enabled and that the iPhone volume is audible. Speech affects playback only; generated words can still appear and be saved when speech is off.

The app was interrupted during a run

The app attempts to preserve and finalize interrupted Spirit Box run data. Open the selected Session and review its saved runs.

Complimentary Monitoring and Pro

Free access includes a total of 15 minutes of active Spirit Box monitoring, with a maximum of 5 minutes per run. Calibration time is not deducted. Partial runs deduct only the active monitoring time used.

Saved runs remain accessible after complimentary monitoring time is exhausted.

Spirit Box Lab Pro is a one-time lifetime purchase that unlocks unlimited Spirit Box monitoring, complete session history, Trigger Details, Magnetic Field Monitor, and Vibration Beacon.

Restore Purchases

If you previously purchased Pro using the same Apple Account, open Spirit Box Lab Pro and choose Restore Purchases.

Device and Sensor Availability

Magnetic Field Monitor requires magnetometer availability. Vibration Beacon and the Spirit Box use device-motion sensors. If a required sensor is unavailable or interrupted, the related tool may not operate until the device or app returns to a supported state.

Interpretation and Investigation Context

Spirit Box Lab records readings and generated words as part of the investigation record. Review them alongside questions asked, timing, surrounding conditions, movement, nearby electronics, and other investigation observations.

Interpretation remains with the investigator.
